New motorbikes must affix energy labels

03/01/2019 15:34

The energy label must be maintained by the manufacturer, importer and dealer of the vehicle on the vehicle until the vehicle is delivered to consumers.

Ministry of Transport issued Circular 59/2018 / TT-BGTVT guiding energy labeling for motorcycles, motorcycles manufactured, assembled and imported.

According to the Circular, production and import facilities of vehicles print the energy labels of vehicles according to the form prescribed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. After sending public information to quality management agencies, production and import establishments shall apply energy labels on each vehicle at an easy-to-observe position before placing them on the market.

The Circular stated that the energy label must be maintained on the vehicle by the manufacturer, importer and trader of the vehicle until the car is delivered to consumers.

In addition, production and import establishments must re-publish information on fuel consumption and energy labeling when: 1. Standards and regulations apply changes; 2. The type of vehicle that has been disclosed with information on fuel consumption and energy labeling has changed without meeting the conditions for expanding the recognition of emission test results as prescribed; 3. Publicizing wrong fuel consumption or inspection and supervision results to discover that the actual fuel consumption exceeds 4% compared to the publicity level of production and import establishments.

This Circular takes effect from January 1, 2020. The Ministry of Transport encourages vehicle manufacturers, assemblers and importers to disclose fuel consumption information and energy labeling before this time.
